A Manchester Road Primary Academy Blog

In English, we have been busy working hard reading our new Read Write Inc texts in our different groups. We have been focusing on spelling using the sounds we know and our Fred Fingers and have been practising our letter formation.

In Maths, we have focussed on 2D shapes and their properties. The children were amazing at knowing and understanding these properties and were able to sort the shapes in many different ways. This week, we are going to focus on number and place value.

In Science, we have been exploring the human body. We carried out a senses walk around the school and then wrote about what we found. We discovered that you can’t always taste things and we use this sense the least.

In Topic, we have been introduced to how toys have changed over time. We have looked at Victorian toys and sorted them from new toys. We looked at a variety of different Victorian toys and used different sources of information to help us label them.

In R.E, we have begun a short unit on Harvest Festival. We looked at what the Harvest Festival was and why it is important to Christians. We then thought about what we were thankful for and I was so proud of some of the responses that the children came up with. They are a very thoughtful and caring class!

Our Learning Hero of the Week this week was Travis for always showing resilience and having a positive attitude in all that he does. Well done Travis!

Our Championship Point winner was Travis. Well done for collecting those points up Travis!

Our Championship Team winner was Self-Belief. Well done for working as a team!

Percy the Panda went home with Travis this week. We can’t wait to see what they’ve both been up to.
